The Benefits of Buying Off-Plan

BUYING off plan means reserving your new home while it’s still under construction – sometimes even before a brick has been laid. If you’re lucky there’ll be a showhome to view, but you may just have to use your imagination to bring floorplans to life.

Whether you use Help to Buy or a different incentive to purchase your new home, buying off-plan can bring with it a number of benefits – not least the chance to ‘personalise’ your new home.

And if it’s early in the life of the development – perhaps even before the showhome has opened – you’re likely to have more choice of housetypes and plot positions, plus the chance to take advantage of pre-showhome prices.

The biggest advantage of committing early has to be the opportunity to pick the finishing touches that will see your home completed just how you want it. You’ll have far more choices in terms of kitchen and bathroom finishes, fixtures and fittings and any optional extras that can be built into your home by making your reservation early in the building process.

If you wait until the home is completed and buy what’s known in the industry as a ‘stock plot’, then the developer will have already made those choices for you and you’ll have lost an opportunity to put your own individual stamp on your home from day one.
